Day 01

Managua City

Welcome at Augusto C. Sandino International Airport and private transfer to your hotel in Managua. Rest of the day at leisure to relax. Overnight in Managua.

Day 02

Managua - El Castillo, San Juan River

Departure by land transfer to the port of San Carlos, where we will board a private boat to the picturesque village of El Castillo.

In the evening, enjoy a night boat tour along the river, a unique experience to discover the sounds of the rainforest and observe wildlife beneath the magic of the night sky. Overnight in El Castillo.

Day 03

Indio Maiz Biological Reserve - El Castillo Village

Start the day with a scenic boat journey into the Indio Maiz Reserve. Enjoy an approximately two-hour trek along the Bartola Trail, one of the best areas to observe monkeys, reptiles, and exotic birdlife in their natural environment.

Discover the charm of El Castillo this afternoon. After learning about the local way of life, you'll step back in time at the 17th century fortress before ending the day at a handcrafted chocolate factory. Overnight in El Castillo.

Day 04

El Castillo - San Fernando Island, Solentiname Archipelago

We'll take a boat across the lake to the Solentiname Archipelago. It's a peaceful place famous for its primitive art. You'll get to meet local artists, see their work, and get a feel for their quiet, community focused lifestyle. Overnight in Solentiname.

Day 05

Los Guatuzos & Papaturro River

Departure to Los Guatuzos for a boat and hiking excursion through this important Ramsar wetland. From a hanging bridge, you will enjoy beautiful views while observing birds and wildlife such as caimans and turtles.

You will also visit local communities and learn about their cacao production while enjoying the pure natural surroundings. Overnight in Solentiname.

Day 06

Crossing to Ometepe Island

The journey continues toward another Biosphere Reserve: the mystical Ometepe Island.

Boat transfer from Solentiname to Puerto Colon, followed by a land transfer to the port of San Jorge, where we will board a ferry to the island, famous for its location in the middle of the lake and its two majestic volcanoes dominating the landscape.

Upon arrival, rest of the day at leisure to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. Overnight in Ometepe.

Day 07

San Ramon Waterfall & Sunset at the Beach

Take a hike through the lush forest on Maderas Volcano to reach a stunning 64-meter waterfall. It's a super quiet corner of the island, full of greenery and wildlife.

The climb is a little challenging, but the peaceful vibe and the views at the top are the perfect reward. Afterward, we'll head to Playa Mango to chill out with a perfect view of the Concepcion Volcano reflecting on the water. Overnight in Ometepe.

Day 08

Departure from Ometepe Island

After catching the ferry back to the mainland, we'll drive you to the Managua airport or the Peñas Blancas border for your departure. Want to stay a little longer? You can easily add a 2-night extension in the colorful colonial city of Granada.
